古河（こが）と雪華（せっか） 旧古河市内には、数多くの雪華文様が見受けられます。
学校の校章や、街路灯、案内看板、煉瓦敷きの歩道など、街中、雪華文様がちりばめられています。
古河藩主土井利位（どいとしつら）が天保3年日本で初めて雪の結晶の自然科学書「雪華図説（せっかずせつ）」を発刊した江戸の時代に「雪華」というニューモードを誕生させました。
時は移り、現代になっても雪華文様は古河に根付き、飾りとしてだけではなく、街の象徴ともいえる存在になっています。
そんな雪華文様を日本で受け継がれた傘作りの文化と融合させたのが「こがのかさ」です。
